New Research Project „Hindu Temple Legends in South India“

The newly approved project "Hindu Temple Legends in South India" of the Heidelberger Academy of Sciences is headed by Prof. Dr. Ute Hüsken (SAI, University of Heidelberg). There will be research units established both in Heidelberg and Pondicherry (India) in cooperation with the École Française d'Extrême-Orient (EFEO). The research project is funded with an annual sum of of 400,000 euros for a total duration of 16 years. Further details can be found in the press release [PDF].

Film Screening "How She Moves"
The South Asia Institute wants to cordially invite everyone to the screening of the film "How She Moves" by Aisha Linnea and Anya Raza, which makes part of the institute's 60th year celebrations. The event will take place in the CATS Lecture Hall (Voßstr. 2, Seminar Building) on July 15, starting at 6 p.m. CET.
 

Nepal Day

We cordially invite everyone to the Nepal Day, which will take place on July 21 and 22, 2022 as part of the celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the South Asia Institute. The event will start with the signing of the MoU between Heidelberg University and Tribbhuvan University in the Bel Etage of the Old University (Grabengasse 1). This will be followed by lectures in rooms 010.01.05 (large lecture hall, CATS seminar building) and 400.02.12 (HCTS).
