Prof. Harun-or-Rashid

| Harun-or-Rashid studied political science at the University of Dhaka and the University of London, where he received his
doctorate in 1983. He has occupied research positions in London, Sweden and Japan, among other places. He has been a professor
of political science at the University of Dhaka since 1995, and has also directed the National University Bangladesh as rector
for two terms. During his stay in Heidelberg, the author of 16 academic monographs will mainly conduct research on the state of
Bangladesh, considering the political developments in 50 years of independence. Among other things, Prof. Harun-or-Rashid will
examine the role of political Islam, the judiciary in Bangladesh, and the marginalization of indigenous peoples in the country.
