Wissenschaftleraustausch mit Indien


Im Jahr 1986 hat das Land Baden-Württemberg am Südasien-Institut (SAI) der Universität Heidelberg ein Forschungsstipendium für indische Akademiker unter dem Deutsch-Indischen Kulturabkommen eingerichtet. Es wurde unter dem damaligen Ministerpräsdenten von Baden-Württemberg, Lothar Späth, initiiert. Durch das Programm sind bis heute insgesamt mehr als fünfzig Wissenschaftler von Indien nach Deutschland gekommen. Am SAI finden sie einen Ort vor, der ideal ausgestattet ist, um ihre Forschungen durchzuführen und den Gedankenaustausch mit Kollegen zu führen, die selbst einschlägige Kenner Südasiens sind. Die akademischen Disziplinen der Stipendiaten umfassen u.a. Ethnologie, Geographie, Geschichte, Kultur- und Relgionsgeschichte Südasiens, Kunstgeschichte, Neusprachliche Südasienstudien, Politikwissenschaft, Südasienstudien sowie Wirtschaftswissenschaft.
