Book presentation on 27.10.2016

The South Asia Institute cordially invites you to the presentation of the German edition of the book entitled “Gandhi’s Outstanding Leadership” (with a preface by Michail Gorbatchev) by Pascal Alan Nazareth on Thursday, October 27, 2016, 7 p.m. at the Heinrich-Zimmer-Reading Room, SAI-library.

Pascal Alan Nazareth will present his book to the audience; further participants and discussants will be Prof. Gita Dharampal-Frick (Head of the Department of History, SAI), Prof. Stefan Klonner (Executive Director, SAI) and Prof. Dr. A. Stephen K. Hashmi (Vice-President Research and Structure, Heidelberg University).
To inaugurate the event, the Ambassador of India, Shri Gurjit Singh, will give a welcome address.
Afterwards, there will be a reception in the foyer of the South Asia Institute.
The book entitled “Gandhi’s Outstanding Leadership” analyses the components of Gandhi's leadership, compares his political role with that of other modern leaders, and assesses his achievements, which made seminal contributions to various fields. Furthermore, Mr. Nazareth traces the revolutionary impact that Gandhian alternatives have exercised during a span of nearly seven decades since his assassination. The book culminates with highlighting the continued relevance of Mahatma Gandhi’s inspirational vision for the contemporary global scenario.
Pascal Alan Nazareth is the former Ambassador of India to Egypt and to Mexico, as well as to other important emerging states. Since his retirement in 1994, he has been researching, writing and lecturing on Mahatma Gandhi and has evaluated his extensive global impact. His book 'Gandhi's Outstanding Leadership' has been published in 11 Indian and 12 foreign languages.
