Obituary for U Tin Htway

U Tin Htway 1973

The SAI is united in grief over the loss of U Tin Htway (born 17.09.1930), who passed away at the age of 85 years on 23 October 2015 in Heidelberg. From 1969 - 1995 he worked as a lecturer in Burmese at the South Asia Institute at the Department of South Asia Politics and later at the Department for Modern South Asian Languages and Literatures.

His funeral will take place at the cemetery Kirchheim on 19 November 2015 at 2 p.m. A detailed obituary written by Dr. Tilman Frasch (Dept of History, Politics and Philosophy, Manchester Metropolitan University) is available here.
