Lecture Series Medical Anthropology

The working group Medical Anthropology invites for a series of lecture in the winter term. The next lecture is on November 6th 2012. It is entitled From "Crazy" to "Psychotic": The Diagnostic Term Unmada in Classical and Contemporary Ayurvedic Literature  and will be held by Dr. Anand Samir Chopra. On Wednesday, October 17th 2012 at 13:30 pm at room  Z10 the SAI officially welcomes all new MA students (M.A. South Asian Studies, M.A. Health and Society in South Asia, M.A. Modern South Asian Languages and Literatures).

Annual Conference of the Cluster of Excellence starts this week
The Annual Conference of the Cluster of Excellence “Asia and Europe” in 2012 will take place from October 10th – 12th.  Entitled “Things that connect – pathways of materiality and practice” this year’s meeting focuses on the study of materiality and the power it exercises in cultural processes. .
   
New Book co-edited by Prof. Dharampal-Frick
“Intercultural Discourse – Key and Contested Concepts” is the title of a collection of articles in German as well as English by numerous internationally renowned authors. The book was edited by Monika Kirloskar-Steinbach (Konstanz), Gita Dharampal-Frick (Heidelberg) and Minou Friele (Bonn). Find details of the contents here. European PhD workshop in South Asian Studies held in Sweden
SASNET (Swedish South Asian Studies Network) and Lund University successfully hosted the Sixth European PhD workshop in South Asia Studies from 17 to 19 September 2012.
