HEiKA Research Project in Geography starts in 2013
As part of the Heidelberg Karlsruhe Research Partnership (HEiKA) a new research project Integrated Earthquake Risk Assessment for the Himalayan Region (IERA – Himal) is about to start in 2013. Principal Investigator from the Heidelberg side is Prof. Marcus Nüsser who will jointly conduct the project with Dr. Bijan Khazai  (CEDIM), Karlsruhe.

Reading with Malayalam poet O.N.V. Kurup
The Department of Modern South Asian Languages & Literatures cordially invites to attend an event with the famous Malayalam poet O.N.V. Kurup on Friday, November 23, 2012 at 1pm in room E11 of the South Asian Institute. O.N.V. Kurup, winner of the Jnanpith award is currently in Germany.
Opening of the German House for Research and Innovation, New Delhi
On the occasion of the opening of the German House for Research and Innovation, New Delhi in late October, Heidelberg University was represented by Prof. Axel Michaels and Dr. Doris Hillger from the Heidelberg Center South Asia (HCSA).
Professor Subrata K. Mitra at DAAD Graduate Academy “Roads to More Democracy”
Between September 19 and 23, 2012 Prof. Mitra (PhD, Rochester) participated at the Graduate Academy “Roads to more Democracy – social and political transformation processes”, jointly organized by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and German National Academic Foundation (Studienstiftung) in Wandlitz.
