Exhibition "Von Atlantis bis heute - Mensch. Natur. Katastrophe"

The Reiss-Engelhorn-Museum Mannheim displays from September 7th, 2014 to March 1st, 2015 the exhibition "Von Atlantis bis heute - Mensch. Natur. Katastrophe". It is mainly organized by the global art historian Prof. Dr. Monica Juneja (Professor of the Cluster Asia and Europe and Associate of the South Asia Institute) with help of the historian Prof. Dr. Gerrit J. Schenk (TU Darmstadt), Jacob Birken, Noura Dirani (both Cluster Asia and Europe) and Dr. Christoph Lind (Reiss-Engelhorn Museums of Mannheim).

Wolf (research associate of the Department of Political Science) to the current political situation of Pakistan.

15th Anniversary of the Sanskrit Summer Schools
On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of Summer School in Spoken Sanskrit in Heidelberg the South Asia Institute cordially invites to the celebration events on Monday, 25th August and Friday, 29th August 2014. The chief guest will be his Excellency Vijay Gokhale, the Ambassador of India.

The Forum "Class Matters: New Ethnographic Perspectives on the Politics of Indian Labour" (co-editor Christian Strümpell, Research Associate Department of Ethnology) was published recently in Modern Asian Studies together with the articles "Introduction: Anthropological and Historical Perspectives on India's Working Classes" and "Sons of Soil, Sons of Steel: Autochthony, Descent and the Class Concept in Industrial India" (Christian Strümpell & Andrew Sanchez (Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology)).
