Translation-Workshop on 21.01.2014
On January 21st, a workshop about translations of South Asian regional languages entitled "Übersetzungen und Übersetzungstheorien im Bezug auf südasiatische Regionalsprachen", organized by the department Modern South Asian Languages and Literatures, will be held from 10.00 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. at the Heinrich-Zimmer reading room of the South Asia Institute.
Scholarship by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung for La Toya Waha
 
In November 2014, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung awarded a scholarship to La Toya Waha for her dissertation project “Religion and State-Formation in Transitional Societies”.
Geographische Rundschau with main focus India
 
The current issue of the Geographische Rundschau (January 2015) focuses on India.

For this purpose, the SAI colleagues Wolfgang-Peter Zingel, Juliane Dame and Julia Poerting wrote several articles.
Welcome to Nadia Arshad
 
We welcome Nadia Arshad as our guest at the Department of Development Economics of the South Asia Institute (12.01. - 22.01.2015). She is a Doctoral Candidate in Business Administration from the Jönköping International Business School in Sweden and her research focusses on crowdfunding.
New publication in honor of Prof. Subrata Mitra

Recently Springer published the festive publication (festschrift) in honor of Prof. Subrata Mitra "Politics in South Asia - Culture, Rationality and Conceptual Flow" edited by Siegfried O. Wolf, Jivanta Schöttli, Dominik Frommherz, Kai Fürstenberg, Marian Gallenkamp, Lion König, and Markus Pauli.
The book identifies new, emerging areas of research, presents fresh research by political scientists and area specialists and represents a broad survey of scholarship.
