SAI Anniversary Program
We are happy to have celebrate the 50th anniversary of the South Asia Institute (SAI) at Heidelberg University in 2012. During the entire year 2012 the SAI organized and presented – both in Heidelberg and in South Asia – single events, a central week of celebration in May, lecture series and special programs on single topics and countries of South Asia. The jubilee’s heading was: The South Asia Institute: 50 Years of Looking Ahead. Have a look at the program.
Lecture Series In 50 Fragen durch Südasien, with a series of short lectures (30 minutes including Q&A) the SAI offers its expertise on South Asia to the general German speaking public in Heidelberg. [More in German]
Opening Heidelberg Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner – Leidenschaft Leben über 8000 (Lecture, January 2012) Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner, one of the best mountaineer worldwide, reports on her tours in the Himalaya. [More in German]
Sri Lanka The Future of Social Science Research in Sri Lanka (Conference, February/March 2012). Before the war Sri Lanka had intensive research relations with the SAI. This conference is an incentive as to develop new options for further academic collaborations. [More...]

The third annual Y-SASM (Young South Asian Scholars Meet) workshop will be hosted by the South Asia Institute, Heidelberg University and will take place from the 14th to 16th June 2012.
