Prof. Hermann Kulke honoured with Padma Shree Award
On April 7th, eminent German Historian and Indologist Prof. Dr. Hermann Kulke was awarded the Padma Shree Prize in a festive ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shree Awards are endowed by the Indian Government for outstanding contributions in various spheres of activity including the Arts, Education, Literature, Science, Medicine, Sports, Industry, social service and public life.
Prof. Dr. Kulke  is Professor Emeritus at the Historical Seminar of the University of Kiel, Germany. He has taught and researched at the South Asia Institute in Heidelberg for 21 years, from 1967 to 1988, and contributed to landmark research projects like the Orissa Project.
Prof. Kulke has directed the SAI branch office in New Delhi in 1978/79.
