Prof. Dr.-Ing. Niels Gutschow received the Federal Cross of Merit by the German Justice State Secretary Thomas Metz in Wiesbaden as an "architect, scientific and cultural bridge-builder". Prof. Dr.-Ing. Gutschow has contributed significantly to a better understanding of cultural and social contexts in different regions, religions and societies. As an internationally renowned architectural historian, he has made major contributions to the understanding of the architectural culture in Europe and Asia.
