Welcome to Surabhi Pudasaini

Surabhi Pudasaini joins us for three months as the inaugural fellow of the joint South Asia Institute-Max Weber Forum fellowship program. Surabhi received a Phd in History from the University of Chicago in 2024. Her work pursues questions of knowledge, skill, making, and production in Nepal and places north of the Siwaliks. In the coming months, Surabhi and Astrid Zotter will be developing a long-term research project on arbori-horticultural skills and knowledge in South Asia. Surabhi is also working on an ongoing scholarly and public history project on mining (https://kammcenter.org/), particularly small-scale mining in mountain areas. Surabhi is keen to have conversations with colleagues and students with shared interests working in the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. She asks anyone with shared intellectual concerns or curiosity about her work to reach out to her at surabhi@kammcenter.org
