    • Dr. S. A. S. Sarma. Research Scholar, Ecole Française d’Extrême-Orient (EFEO), Centre de Pondichéry

The presentation discusses the unique Kerala Vedic tradition, with special reference to a Somayāga conducted in April 2025 in Thrissur. Dr. SAS Sarma will introduce the Vedic community, highlighting its unique schools, such as Jaiminīya, Vādhulas, and the ancient Ṛgveda Vedic school in Thrissur. The presentation will also address the dedicated efforts of this specific community to continue their Vedic traditions. The recent Somayāga is a remarkable example, as it provided an occasion to train young practitioners over several years to perform the Yāga,  thereby keeping the tradition alive. Dr. SAS Sarma will share his personal experiences with the yāga, including insights into its planning and organization.
