Project titel: Participatory communication and ICT for sustainable development in India – The importance of regional languages
Participatory communication approaches are enshrined in the guidelines of many global development organizations, but often encounter obstacles in their implementation. One of the reasons for this is potential language barriers that hinder dialogue. Many development organizations use digital information and communication technologies (ICTs) in their communication approaches. These technologies have the potential to reduce language barriers, but can also promote misunderstandings through incorrect or inaccurate translations. My work analyzes the communication of development organizations in Hindi- and Bengali-speaking regions of India in order to identify best practices for successful dialogue without language barriers.
