Talk by Dr. Kumar Regimes, Policies and Dalits in India

This talk examines the connection between a political party, its governance principles (regimes), and the types of policies that are developed, altered, and enforced while in office. It seeks to comprehend a specific regime and its influence and perception of a certain social group, which in this case, are Dalits. The talk reviews various government initiatives and programs implemented by the governments of Uttar Pradesh under Mayawati and Haryana under Hooda, focusing on the governance mechanisms established by these two distinct state regimes. The emphasis of the paper is on the governance of policies aimed at educational enhancement, economic development, and the prevention and control of atrocities against these communities. Additionally, it considers the perceptions and reactions of Dalits towards these regimes concerning policies designed to safeguard civil rights and promote their socio-economic advancement.
