Heidelberg Colloquium for Area Studies (HCAS)

It is our aim to provide doctoral students with a rather informal occasion to discuss their research and encourage an interdisciplinary exchange as well as friendly cooperation and networking. This colloquium is targeted at doctoral students of Asian Studies (such as Chinese, Japanese or South Asian Studies), Transcultural Studies, Political Science, Sociology, and other Social Sciences, anticipating the formation of the Centre for Asian and Transcultural Studies (CATS). On each meeting, we give the floor to one to two participants for a 20-minute input each, which can be used to present an entire project, or specific problems in research. There will also be enough time to discuss pressing questions spontaneously. Working languages are German and English.
