An Act made further to amend certain laws relating to universities

Whereas it is expedient further to amend certain laws relating to universities for carrying out the
purposes appearing below;

Now, therefore, it is herewith enacted as follows:-
1. Short title.- This Act may be called the University Laws (Amendment) Act, 1987.

2. Amendment of P.O. No.11 of 1973.- In the Dacca University Order, 1973 (P.O. No.11 of
1973),-

     (a) for the word "Dacca", wherever it occurs, the word "Dhaka" shall be substituted;
     and
     (b) for clause (h) of Article 9 the following clause shall be substituted, namely:-
     "(h) the Director (Planning and Development);";

3. Amendment of section 9 of Act XXVI of 1973.- In section 9 of the Rajshahi University Act,
1973 (XXXVI of 1973), for clause (1) the following clause shall be substituted, namely:-

     "(1) the Director (Planning and Development);";

4. Amendment of Act XXXIII of 1973.- In the Chittagong University Act, 1973 (XXXIII of
1973),-

     (a) in section (10), for clause (n) the following clause shall be substituted, namely:-
     "(n) the Director (Planning and Development);"; and
     (b) in section 35, in sub-section (2), for the words "Planning and Development
     Officer" the words and brackets "Director (Planning and Development) shall be
     substituted.

5. Amendment of Act XXXIV of 1973.- In the Jahangirnagar University Act, 1973 (XXXIV of
1973),-

     (a) in section 9, for clause (m) the following clause shall be substituted, namely:-
     "(m) the Director (Planning and Development);"; and
     (b) in section 31, in sub-section (2), for the words "Planning and Development
     Officer" the words and brackets "Director (Planning and Development) shall be
     substituted.
