After the Studies

The interdisciplinarity of the South Asia Institute generally offers the students a wide range of career opportunities. These may vary depending on the study programme, the specialization (especially within the study programme South Asian Studies) as well as the choice of lectures, thus the below suggestions are given as guidance. Principally, the students also have the option for an academic career.

Based on the BERUFENET of the Federal Employment Agency we have compiled the following list with career opportunities for those students who pursue a career other than research (for example in governmental and non-governmental organizations or private companies):

  • Geography: data acquisition and analysis, urban, regional and traffic planning, environmental consulting ang management, economic promotion, development cooperation

Generally, for acquiring leading positions a Master's degree is expected.
