▍ When Dealing with a Hundred Pāli Manuscripts: Editing Subhasutta of the Dīghanikāya

Dr. Bunchird Chaowarithreonglith (Dhammachai Tipiṭaka Project, DCI Center for Buddhist Studies, Ayutthaya)

The Dhammachai Tipiṭaka Project, Thailand, is now working on producing a new critical edition of the Pāli canon based on palm-leaf manuscripts of five traditions: Burmese/Mon, Sinhalese, Khom and Tham. In this talk, focusing on the Subhasutta, I will show the nature of our work on editing Pāli text from numerous manuscripts - how we put all materials together on our platform, how we deal with various readings from those materials, what issues we found in the course of editing the text, etc.

Dr. Bunchird Chaowarithreonglith is Chief of Tipiṭaka Research Center at the Dhammachai Tipiṭaka Project, DCI Center for Buddhist Studies, Ayutthaya, Thailand.
