Matej Smodiš has a background in archeology, translation studies and religious studies and has worked for six years as a freelance translator. The MAHASSA program was a great opportunity to combine his early interests in biomedicine and the later developed interest in other medical systems and philosophies, especially those originating from South Asia. Since he is always looking for new ways to communicate with his surroundings and understand the present reality, from languages, music, philosophy, dancing, writing, theater etc., the diverse field of medical anthropology with the combination of people from various cultural background at the SAI, pose a great opportunity to expand his range.
