Short Biography

Eva Ambos studied Anthropology and Contemporary History (M. A.) at the University of Heidelberg where she graduated from in 2008. Her first stay in Sri Lanka in 2006 where she was volunteering for a local NGO was funded by the DAAD. During her studies and afterwards, she has been working as a student assistant in several research projects and as a tutor for scientific working techniques, anthropology of religion and ethnolinguistics. In 2009, she received a PhD sponsorship from the Cluster of Excellence "Asia and Europe in a Global Context" where she became an active member of the research project B 14 "Religion on Stage". Since then, she conducted more than 18 months of fieldwork in Sri Lanka and worked as a lecturer at the Universities of Heidelberg and Tübingen. Until March 2014, she acted as co-coordinator of the Master program "Health and Society in South Asia". In 2015, she completed her PhD on ritual, heritage and politics in Sri Lanka.
