Short CV

Dr Anil Kumar Mohapatra hails from Bhubaneswar -the capital city of the Indian state of Odisha where he is working as Assistant Professor in Political Science at the P.G. Department of Political Science, Utkal University. Since 1993 he has been engaged in teaching at different colleges in the said state until his joining Utkal in 2010. He has had his higher education from Utkal, Madurai Kamaraj and Fakir Mohan universities in India. Before his present assignment of Baden Wurttemberg fellowship at the South Asia Institute(SAI), University of Heidelberg, Germany he was also a British Council fellow and undertook a project on “ D emocratic Consolidation in South Asia: Developments in Nepal” at the Contemporary South Asian Studies P rogramme, School of Interdisciplinary Area Studies, University of Oxford (UK) in 2012. At SAI, he is working on a project “Regional Integration and Governance in South Asia: What lessons does the EU hold for the SAARC?”

Dr Mohapatra is the author of “Small States in South Asia: A security perspective of the Himalayan States”, which received positive comments including the book-review carried out by the “Himal South Asian” –an international journal published from Nepal. To his credit he has more than fifty scholarly articles published in research journals and e-journals of national and international repute. These include the popular national periodicals of India like the Mainstream and World Focus and e-journals like IPCS and South Asia Monitor and South Asian Outlook (from Canada). At present, he is supervising five scholars for PhD and has already guided nine for MPhil degree. In addition to his passion for teaching and research Anil is a bi-lingual poet. He writes in both Odia and English. An anthology of his poems in English “Potter’s Sport and Other Poems” was released in November 2012 at Oxford.
