Welcome to Alok Oak
A hearty welcome to Alok Oak at the South Asia Institute! Alok Oak is a doctoral researcher hailing from Thane/Bombay who is currently affiliated to the Leiden Institute of Area Studies and the Center for the Study of Religion, University of Leiden.
His research thesis on 'Colonialism, Desivad and Hindu Nationalism: A Study of the Political Philosophy of B G Tilak' deals with developing a distinct framework of reading anti-colonial texts and focuses on the writings of B G Tilak.  His upcoming publications include 'Dasbodh and Bhakti: An Enquiry into the Tradition', edited by Kundan Tuteja and Yogesh Snehi, Shimla:  IIAS, and 'M G Ranade and the Challenge of Reinventing Hinduism', edited by David Kim, Cambridge: Cambridge Scholars Publishing. He teaches moral and political theory at Symbiosis School for Liberal Arts, Pune.   Alok Oak holds a grant under the Erasmus and Leiden traineeship program and will be spending two months from mid April until mid July at the SAI's Department of Modern South Asian Languages and Literatures.
