Welcome: Prof. Dr. Hans Harder (South Asia Institute, Heidelberg University)
Moderation: Dr. Dieter Reinhardt (South Asia Institute, Heidelberg University) and Azizur Rahman Khan (Competence Center Municipal Conflict Consulting, VFB Salzwedel e.V.)
The global increase in migration is accompanied by new forms of self-organization of migrant groups and competing identity networks. Migrants from Bangladesh and other countries have established their own autonomous networks. However, they are also exposed to many forms of discrimination and the practical enforcement of women´s rights is often prevented by patriarchal structures.
The event takes place in cooperation with the Competence Center Municipal Conflict Counseling of the Association for the Promotion of Education - VFB Salzwedel e.V..
The South Asia Institute is united in grief of Barrister Moudud Ahmed, who passed away on 16 March 2021. You can read a detailed obituary, written by Wolfgang-Peter Zingel here.
