On 27th May 2026, Matias Lennart Castren, PhD candidate at the Department of Political Science, South Asia Institute, Heidelberg University, successfully defended his doctoral thesis. Matias worked under the doctoral supervision of Professor Dr. Rahul Mukherji for his PhD research. Professor Dr. Andreas Noelke, Goethe University Frankfurt am Main, and Professor Dr. Stefan Klonner, Heidelberg University were the examiners during his defence.
