Welcome to Dr. Suresh C. Chalise

We cordially welcome Dr. Suresh C. Chalise as Visiting Scholar at the Department of Political Science at the South Asia Institute. He holds a research scholarship by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH) and will stay from January 7th – April 7th at the SAI. Suresh C. Chalise earned his Ph.D. from Banaras Hindu University, India and undertook post-doctoral research at the Universities of Dortmund and Gießen, Germany. He served as Ambassador of Nepal to the United States (2007-2008) and to the United Kingdom (2010-2014) and is affilitated with the GP Koirala Foundation for Democracy, Peace and Development in Kathmandu/Nepal, an independent think tank for the promotion of peace, democracy and development.


Grief for Pandit Dr. Parameshwara Aithal

We are united in grief for Pandit Dr. Parameshwara Aithal, who passed away on 3 January 2020. Dr. Aithal worked as Sanskrit lecturer at SAI for many years and is an honorary member of the institute.
