Dr. Constanze Weigl-Jäger is coordinator of the DAAD-project "New Directions in 'Active Ageing' and 'Age-friendly Culture' in India and Germany" at Heidelberg University. After receiving her PhD in Anthropology in 2009 for a thesis on reproductive health behaviour of Muslim women in urban North India, she was research associate and coordinator of the MA "Health and Society in South Asia" at the Department of Anthropology, South Asia Institute, Heidelberg University from 2009 to 2017. From 2005-2008 she worked in a research project on Islamic bioethics at the Seminar of Islamic Studies, Ruhr-University Bochum and financed by the German Research Foundation (DFG). She studied Anthropology, Modern South Asian Languages and Literatures (Urdu) and History of South Asia at the University of Heidelberg and Edinburgh University. Her research interests include age and aging in India, Islam in South Asia and Medical Anthropology.
