Christiane Brosius

Christiane Brosius is Professor of Visual and Media anthropology. Her main research is on art production, cultural heritage and urban transformation in Delhi and Kathmandu. With respect to ageing matters, Christiane was PI of the project "Ageing in a transcultural context" at the Cluster of Excellence Asia and Europe in a Global context (with Profs Andreas Kruse and Axel Michaels), where the focus was on ageing in urban contexts, mainly in Delhi (Annika Mayer) and Kathmandu (Mandoki)). The online initiative "Elderscapes" emerged from this context. Brosius works on intergenerational relations in urban Patan (Nepal), with a particular focus on the role of built architecture, ritual and urban change (see also here). Brosius is co-editor of Caring for Old-Age. Perspectives from South Asia (HeiUP, forthcoming).
