                (SECOND AMENDMENT) ORDINANCE, 1987

An Ordinance made further to amend the Bangladesh Red Cross Society Order, 1973

Whereas it is expedient further to amend the Bangladesh Red Cross Society Order, 1973 (P.O.
No.26 of 1973), for carrying out the purposes hereinafter appearing;

and whereas Parliament is not in session and the President is satisfied that circumstances exist
which render immediate action necessary;

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Article 93 (1) of the Constitution,
the President is pleased to make and promulgate the following Ordinance:-

1. Short title.- This Ordinance may be called the Bangladesh Red Cross Society (Second
Amendment) Ordinance, 1987.

2. Amendment of Article 9A of P.O. No.26 of 1973.- In Article 9A of the Bangladesh Red
Cross Society Order, 1973 (P.O. No.26 of 1973), after clause (1) the following new clause shall
be inserted, namely:-

     "(A) Notwithstanding anything contained in clause (1), the Chairman of the Society,
     in the case of an Executive Committee, or the President, in the case of the Mnaging
     Board, may, if he considers necessary in the public interest so to do, extend the term
     of an Executive Committee or the Managing Board, as the case may be, by one
     year.".
