M.A. Communication, literature and media in modern South Asian Languages

The M.A. Communication, literature and media in modern South Asian Languages (until 2014: Modern South Asian Languages and Literatures) is taught at the department Modern South Asian Languages and Literatures of the South Asia Institute.
The programme comprises 120 credit points (CP) and is usually completed in two years.

Prerequisite for admission to the programme is good knowledge of one South Asian language taught at the institute (Bengali, Hindi, Tamil or Urdu). During the programme, the students engage both in literature in the narrow sense of belles-lettres as well as in theories of translation and culture. Moreover, primary sources on the intellectual and political history of this diverse cultural zone will be used. Due to miscellaneous advanced and literary seminars, the students develop their own focus of study that may also be complemented by relevant courses at other departments of the institute.
The programme is completed by an oral examination and a written Master's thesis.

Detailed information can be found on the departments website.
