Degree Programs

The six-semester BA Neuere Sprachen und Literaturen Südasiens [BA Modern South Asian Languages and Literatures] enables students to engage academically with South Asia and to apply the knowledge gained in the program practically. The focus of the degree program is to provide a solid education in languages and literatures, supplemented by an introduction to themes and methods of the discipline and an acquisition of professional key-skills.

The MA Neuere Sprachen und Literaturen Südasiens [MA Modern South Asian Languages and Literatures] is built on the basis of the BA program. Students engage further both with literature in the narrow sense of belles-lettres as well as with primary sources for the intellectual and political history of this diverse cultural zone. The aim of this four-semester degree program is to enable students to undertake independent academic research. The acquisition of a modern or classical South Asian language is also an important part of the inter-departmental BA Südasienstudien [BA South Asian Studies].
