Guest Lectures by Dr. Sarunas Paunksnis

Dr. Sarunas Paunksnis from Kaunas University of Technology, Lithuania, is coming to the South Asia Institute next week, November 7-11. In the framework of an ERASMUS exchange, he will teach a number of classes both at the SAI and at the Chair of Visual and Media Anthropology at the HCTS.
Dr. Paunksnis obtained his PhD from SOAS and held a Fulbright fellowship that brought him to Columbia University in New York (2010-11). In early 2016, he was a research fellow at JNU, New Delhi. His main area of expertise is Indian film. Thoroughly grounded in critical cultural studies, Paunksnis explores the booming film business in India and the patterns of middle-class consumption, especially in films that project themselves as off-mainstream.

All classes are in English language. They are open to the public, so interested students and guests are welcome!
