An east-west encounter: Muhammad Iqbal
Muhammad Iqbal (1877–1938) was often compared to Goethe, with whose works he was very familiar. He is one of South Asia’s most important writers and thinkers and is extolled in Pakistan as a national poet. Short readings introduce the poet and thinker, his significance and topicality.

Literary encounter with Geetanjali Shree

The Indian writer Geetanjali Shree, today one of the most interesting and best Hindi writers, made an international name for herself with her novel “Māī”, in which she narrates a family history over three generations against the background of rapidly changing social conditions.
