How to get to Heidelberg

By plane

Heidelberg is well connected to international airline networks through Frankfurt Airport (FRA). The international airports at Stuttgart (STR) and Frankfurt/Hahn (HHN) can also be reached by public transport.

From Frankfurt Airport

There are frequent train services from Frankfurt Airport to Heidelberg. It takes you about 50 Minutes to reach the city.

Lufthansa Airport Shuttle Service is also available to Heidelberg city center (dropoff at Crowne Plaza Hotel, close to the main bus station Bismarckplatz). The bus takes 60 minutes to Heidelberg and requires reservation (www.lufthansa.com).

From Stuttgart Airport

There are frequent train services from Stuttgart Airport to Heidelberg. It takes you about 90 Minutes to reach the city.

From Frankfurt Hahn Airport

You can reach Frankfurt Hahn Airport by bus (operator: Hahn-Express). Reservation for individual passengers is not required (Exception: for groups of 5 or more persons reservation needs to be done at least 3 work days in advance). The bus takes 135 minutes to Heidelberg.

By train

Heidelberg Main Station can be reached via the Deutsche Bahn intercity connection and regional trains. Tickets for the German railway system can be booked at offices at main railway stations or online.

By car

From the north: Motorway A5 (via Darmstadt, direction: Karlsruhe/Basel)
From the south: Motorway A5 (direction: Frankfurt a. M.)
Coming from the A 5, change to A 656 to Heidelberg at motorway junction Heidelberg. If you are coming from the A 6, change at motorway junction Mannheim.
