Jonas grew up in Stuttgart, Germany. After completing his B.Sc. in Psychology from the University of Ulm in 2014 with a thesis on decision making he went to India for one year to work with Janwani, a Pune-based NGO engaged in different fields related to public health and city development. Here he came in contact with fieldwork in Medical Anthropology for the first time, and this, combined with the newly sparked interest in South Asian countries and their culture, led to his decision to shift his research focus from mere Psychology to Medical Anthropology with a focus on Mental Health. Looking for a way to combine these aspects he got to know MAHASSA and joined the program in the fall of 2015.
