Walter Venditto obtained a Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology studying castes in politics, discrimination, cultural and social change in contemporary Indian society.
He spent several months travelling through India. In Delhi, in a partnership with a local NGO, he carried out an ethnographic survey on poverty and human rights violations in slum areas of Delhi.
In 2012/13, thanks to a grant provided by the Indian government, he went back to India for 9 months to learn Hindi and continue his research. In 2014/15 thanks to a grant supplied by the University of Naples "L'Orientale", he carried on his postdoctoral research on food and migration.
