In 2007, Marcel completed his Alternative Civilian Service at the Rajagiri College of Social Sciences in Cochin, India. The service showed him new perspectives on education, medical treatment and lifestyle. From 2007 to 2009, Marcel conducted a vocational training as a Wholesale and Foreign Trade Management Assistant in Hong Kong, China. After his vocational training Marcel graduated from the University of Vienna in Social and Cultural Anthropology in 2012. His B.A. thesis focused on the Internet-based fan cultures of popular Hindi cinema. From 2012 to 2013, Marcel studied Anthropology at the North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) in Shillong, India. To be mentioned is his fieldwork among the Padam (Adi) tribe of Arunachal Pradesh.
