Annekatrin W. Kreisel grew up in Germany and is a graduate of the Ruprecht-Karls-University in Heidelberg holding her B.A. in Anthropology and South Asian Studies. She graduated on microfinance for women in South Asia. During her studies she spent 6 months in Tamil Nadu, India working with a local NGO focusing on awareness, prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS, microfinance projects for women and the project for indigenous population in the area. Since she is an experienced nurse she also took internships in local hospitals, health centres and an Ayurveda hospital. She joined MAHASSA in 2013 in order to link the anthropological and medical interests with a focus on South Asia, especially India. Her goal is to deepen and combine her anthropological knowledge, traditional medicine and biomedical skills to implement them in global health care projects.
