During her studies, Maira interned at the Ministry of Planning, Development and Reform Government of Pakistan, and the Citizens' Archive of Pakistan. In her senior year, she worked for six months at the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly of Pakistan as a research assistant. The lack of quality primary research and the abundance of interesting and important subject matter in Pakistan prompted her to apply to MAHASSA, a unique program specific to her interests. The program will allow her to develop an outsider's view of her own country, enriching her academic analyses. A wide range of topics fascinate her including identity, perception of the body, organ transplants, abortion, childbirth and death, feminism and ritual healing.
