Filmmaker & Anthropologist. Visual Anthropology (1979-2011); Medical anthropology (1999-2011). Researches and films about health, customary justice and development. Developped an inclusive cultural approach to HIV/AIDS in Mozambique and in Congo RDC. Freelance consulter in applied antrhopological researches & projects in cooperation with tradipractitioners, customary authorities, initiation rites counsellors, NGO's, HIV activists, institutions and Ministries workers (Sub-Saharan Africa).

Questions to the formation of the practitioners (for dialogue/training with the biomedical sector)
    Both Mozambique films where largely diffused in 2003 with an intensive participative form of adult education in Mozambique with an adaptation of Paulo Freire DIALOGUE methodology: with trainers from different ministries and in communities with the NGOs, analysing the involvement of tradi-parctitioners in HIV/AIDS prevention. S.Kotanyi realised the trainings with co-trainers and the supervision of the team in Mozambique for a participative and active diffusion, together with ACTION AID. First experiences in bridging between biomedical and traditional practitioners.
