New Project by Jörg Gengnagel and Eric Decker
A new project with the title “A Pilgrimage Scroll (tīrthapaṭṭa) from Rajasthan: Visual Journeys and Confluences of Devotion at the three Cities of Gayā, Kāśī and Prayāg” coordinated by Jörg Gengnagel (Department of Cultural and Religious History of South Asia) and Eric Decker (Heidelberg Research Architecture) has been launched.
The project aims to offer a fully annotated interactive presentation of a pilgrimage scroll of the 18th century from Rajasthan, which is on display at the National Museum in New Delhi.
The analysis and the presentation is grounded on the HyperImage platform. This technology supports the digitization of long horizontal, pictorial and textual formats and renders them for the presentation to a large audience.
The research project has been launched in early 2016 at the Cluster of Excellence “Asia and Europe in a Global Context” as a sub project of MC9.2 “Changing Sacred Waterscapes”.
