Farewell-reception of Prof. Wiqar Ali Shah
 | We cordially invite you to the farewell-reception of the Holder of the Allama Iqbal Professorial Fellowship Prof. Wiqar Ali Shah. The celebration will take place in the reading room of the library of the South Asia Institute (SAI), INF 330, on Wednesday, June 25th, 2014, 7pm. The ceremony will be followed by a reception in the SAI Foyer (see invitation). |
Professor Dr. Sayed Wiqar Ali Shah took up the position as Allama Iqbal Professor at the South Asia Institute in September 2009. In this year his research sojourn at Heidelberg University ends. His areas of specialisation include Modern South Asia, Afghanistan, Political Leadership in Pakistan, Tribal Areas of Pashtunkhwa in Pakistan, Pashto Language and Literature and Gender Studies.

Since 1979 the Pakistani government has awarded the Allama Iqbal Professional Fellowship to the South Asia Institute (www.sai.uni-heidelberg/iqbal). The fellowship enables visiting professors from Pakistan to spend a lengthy research sojourn at Heidelberg University.
