It is a sad duty to announce that Prof. Dr. em. Jürgen Lütt has passed away on July 17^th 2012 in Heidelberg. The funeral service will be held on coming Tuesday, 12.30h at the Heidelberg Handschuhsheim cemetery. Jürgen Lütt was member of the department of history at SAI from 1968 to 1993. In 1993 he became Professor for “Modern South Asian History and Society” at Humboldt University, Berlin. After his retirement he had returned to Heidelberg recently where he managed to finish his last book “Modern India 1498-2004” that was published by Oldenbourg Wissenschaftsverlag 2012.
