A grant for academic network has been approved
Heidelberg University has received a grant for academic networking activities as part of AROGYAM, "Advances in Research on Globally Accessible Medicine," an academic network linking researchers from Heidelberg, Edinburgh University, Jawaharlal Nehru University (Delhi) and the Achutha Menon Centre for Health Science Studies in Trivandrum, Kerala (South India).

Inaugural lecture by Prof. Dr. Christiane Brosius: "Teilnahmslose Beobachtung? Feldforschung im Zeichen medialer Verflüchtigung"
On behalf of Prof. Christiane Brosius (Chair of Visual and Media Anthropology) you are cordially invited attend on this Wednesday, July 4th at 12 pm her inaugural lecture in the Old Auditorium of Heidelberg University. The lecture will be followed by a reception at the Bel Etage. In her talk with the title "Teilnahmslose Beobachtung? Feldforschung im Zeichen medialer Verflüchtigung", Brosius will discuss the developments in anthropological field research regarding media and visual cultures. (more)
Cluster of Excellence “Asia and Europe in a Global Context” funding approved for the next five years
On June 15, the Excellence Initiative Grants Committee - the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft) and the German Council of Science and Humanities (Wissenschaftsrat) - approved the funding for the second phase of the excellence initiative. Heidelberg University successfully received funding for all 6 proposals. We congratulate in particular the cluster of excellence “Asia and Europe in a Global Context” for this great success.
Hengstberger Symposium: 'Power Politics and Maritime Governance in the Indian Ocean'
On the 2nd to 4th  July, 2012 an international symposium titled, Power Politics and Maritime Governance in the Indian Ocean will take place at the Internationales Wissenschaftsforum Heidelberg (IWH).
