We welcome Professor Saraswati Raju at the South Asia Institute as a DAAD Guest Professor.
She is a Professor in Social Geography at the Centre for the Study of Regional Development (CSRD) at the Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi, India.
Congratulations to Prof. Mitra
We congratulate Prof. Subrata K. Mitra warmly to his 65th birthday!
Subrata K. Mitra has been Professor and Head of the Department of Political Science at the South Asia Institute since September 1994. He studied at Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi and at the University of Rochester (New York) and taught at the universities of Hull/UK and California/Berkley.
Jivanta Schöttli: India in the Contemporary World: Polity, Economy and International Relations
A new book titled "India in the Contemporary World: Polity, Economy and International Relations" edited by Manish Thapa, Jakub Zaj Czkowski and Jivanta Schottli was published by Routledge in May 2014.
In the book there are 19 papers of scholars from India and EU, including Subrata K. Mitra (Head of the Department Political Science, SAI).


Founding of Sri Lanka Working Group
The Sri Lanka Working Group  was founded in summer 2014, which provides staff and students of the SAI a forum for cross-disciplinary and academic exchange on Sri Lanka. Regular lectures are scheduled (mainly in the semester).
