New Zimmer Chair: Prof. Amiya P. Sen
  We are happy to announce the arrival of Prof. Amiya P. Sen as new chairholder of the Heinrich Zimmer Chair for Philosophy and Intellectual History. Prof. Sen will join the SAI in winter term 2014/15 for a two-year stay.

Welcome to Dr. Magnus Hatlebakk

 
We cordially welcome Dr. Magnus Hatlebakk (Chr. Michelsen Institute, Bergen, Norway) as guest researcher at the department of Devolpment Economics of the South Asia Institute. He is a Senior Researcher and will stay till the 2nd November 2014. His research interests are poverty, social exclusion and rural development.

Study exchange with the University of Hyderabad

 
Heidelberg University has just finalised an Agreement for a Graduate Student Exchange Programme with the University of Hyderabad. The agreement allows three students per academic year from the Masters Programme in Transcultural Studies or South Asian Studies to spend a semester in Hyderabad.
Welcome to PD Dr. Thomas Fickert

 
We cordially welcome PD Dr. Thomas Fickert (Physical Geography, University of Passau) at the South Asia Institute to the winter semester 2014/15. He will replace Prof. Dr. Markus Nüsser, Head of Geography, during his research sabbatical at the department.
