Earthquake Nepal

 
The earthquake in Nepal has caused tremendous damage in Kathmandu and beyond. As of now there are no casualities known regarding the university. The SAI prepared support and a call for donations.
Earthquake Nepal: Forensic Disaster Analysis (FDA) Report by Johannes Anhorn


On 27.04.2015 the first Forensic Disaster Analysis (FDA) report of the Center for Disaster Management and Risk Reduction Technology (CEDIM) regarding the earthquake in Nepal was published .

Contributers from Heidelberg are Johannes Anhorn (Research Associate at Department of Geography, SAI) and Verena Flörchinger (Master student at Department of Geography, SAI, currently at fieldwork in Kathmandu).

New graduate program about Global History of Religion from a regional perspective ("Globale Religionsgeschichte aus regionaler Perspektive")

A new graduate program concerns with Historicization and decentration of religious identities in the 19th and early 20th century. It is  funded by the the State Graduate Sponsorship Program (Landesgraduiertenförderung) and begins from 05/01/2015. 
The aim of the college is an examination of different regional perspectives and the reciprocity and multipolarity of global religious exchange processes.
Lecture by Prof. Peter Ronald deSouza on 28.4.2015

 
On April 28th, 2015, 6 p.m. the eminent Indian Political Scientist Prof. Peter Ronald deSouza, Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS), New Delhi will give a lecture on "Nehru's letters to Chief Ministers and building the imagination of the new state" in room 316 of the South Asia Institute. Guest Researcher at Department of Devolpment Economics: Dr. Magnus Hatlebakk

 
We cordially welcome Dr. Magnus Hatlebakk (Chr. Michelsen Institute, Bergen, Norway) as guest researcher at the Department of Devolpment Economics of the South Asia Institute. He is a Senior Researcher and will stay from April 19th till May 10th, 2015. His research interests are poverty, social exclusion and rural development.
