20. - 22. October 2015: Conference „Gemstones in the first Millenium AD"

 
From 20. - 22. October 2015 the conference on „Gemstones in the first Millennium AD. Mines, Trade, Workshops and Symbolism“ which is organised within the scope of the project „Universal Framework - Changes in the cultural significance of early medieval gemstone jewellery considered against the background of economic history and the transfer of ideas and technologies“ will take place at the RGZM | Römisch-Germanisches Zentralmuseum, Mainz.
Michaels, Bajracharya, Gutschow: Nepalika-Bhupa-Vamsavali: History of the Kings of Nepal - A Buddhist Chronicle

The popular 19th century Nepali chronicle (Vamsavali) with the title Nepalika-Bhupa-Vamsavali: History of the Kings of Nepal - A Buddhist Chronicle has been newly edited and translated into English by Dr. Manik Bajracharya, Prof. Axel Michaels, and Prof. Niels Gutschow. The three-volume work was published by Himal Books.


SAI on 17. & 18.10.2015 at Frankfurt Book Fair
  From October 14- 18, 2015 the Frankfurt Book Fair will take place  at Messegelände, Ludwig-Erhard-Anlage 1, 60327 Frankfurt am Main. The South Asia Institute is represented on October 17th and 18th at Weltempfang - Centre for Politics, Literature and Translation on the subject of "Exploring Boundaries" in Hall 3.1 L 25 with the following events:

Lion König: Globalisation and Governance in India - New Challenges to Society and Institutions
  Routledge recently published the book "Globalisation and Governance in India - New Challenges to Society and Institutions", edited by Lion König (Associate Member of the SAI, Centre for Culture, Media and Governance, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi) and Harihar Bhattacharyya (Professor of Political Science, The University of Burdwan, India).

International Conference from 4. - 6.10.2015
  From 4th - 6th October 2015, 6:00 p.m. an international conference entitled “Studying Documents in Pre-modern South Asia and Beyond: Problems and Perspectives” will take place at the Heidelberger Akademie der Wissenschaften, Karlstraße 4, 69117 Heidelberg.
