“CrossAsia - Fachinformationsdienst Asien” approved by the DFG

The South Asia Institute, the University Library of Heidelberg and the Berlin State Library had collaboratively submitted a proposal for a “Fachinformationsdienst Asien” to the German Research Foundation (DFG), which was approved at the end of 2015 by the DFG.

Hindi in Prague, Vienna and Heidelberg on 20.01.2016

The department of Modern South Asian Languages and Literatures cordially invites everyone to the event "Hindi in Prague, Vienna and Heidelberg", which takes place on January 20, 2016, 4.00-6.00 p.m. in the Heinrich-Zimmer Reading Room, SAI-Library and is supported by the Indian Consulate General in Munich.

Sri Lanka Week at the SAI



The Sri Lanka Working Group invites to a cultural framework programme at the South Asia Institute as part of the Sri Lanka Week (17.-23.01.) in the Marstall Mensa, organised by the Studierendenwerk. It will take place on 19.1. and 21.01.2016. 
Axel Michaels: Homo Ritualis - Hindu Ritual and Its Significance to Ritual Theory

Oxford University Press published in January 2016 the book „Homo Ritualis - Hindu Ritual and Its Significance to Ritual Theory, edited by Prof. Dr. Axel Michaels (Head of the department of Cultural and Religious History of South Asia at the South Asia Institute).
